Magnificent Magnolias

I had the pleasure of visiting the San Francisco Botanical Garden in Golden Gate Park today. It was a beautiful day to take pictures of flowers! I took over 200 photos and will be sharing more of them throughout the week, but I want to start with the star of the show right now, the magnolia trees which have bloomed early due to warm weather

Magnolia Amoena

There are many varieties of magnolia trees at the botanical garden. For a description of the various types, have a look at their website for Magnificent Magnolias.

I adore magnolia flowers. They smell wonderfully sweet and I love the large size of many of the blossoms. Who doesn’t love a great big flower?

Not all magnolia flowers are pink, there were some lovely pure white blossoms too.

Such a satisfying flower to photograph. Stay tuned for more flower pictures later this week, including a very unusual blooming succulent with teal flowers!
