SF MoMA

I only took my 100mm macro lens with me to the newly reopened, remodeled and expanded San Francisco Museum of Modern Art museum because I wanted to take photos of bits and pieces and textures and impressions rather than documenting specific artworks. Photos of these artworks are available all over online, in books, in prints. I was more interested in catching little areas that drew my eye, bits of color, interesting patterns created by sculpture or textured paint. My favorite shots of the day:

Castle Rock State Park

Castle Rock State Park had been on my list of places I wanted to check out for a long time. It fills in a gap in my master map of all the places I have been hiking in the bay area.

Castle Rock is so named because there is a giant rock formation the size of a castle. At least that is the story I am telling myself. The sandstone formations throughout the park are what makes this place different and special compared to all the lovely forest around it.
